MEET THE FOUNDERS

Epsilon Eta was first conceived in the summer of 2014 in a place very distant and very unlike Ann Arbor. That summer, founding members Julia Wang, Zach Fogel, Daly Kleaveland, and Julia Austin were taking courses at UM’s geological field station, Camp Davis, near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Moved by the immensity of the mountains around them and the shared purpose of Wolverines at Camp Davis to more intimately understand their role in their natural environment, they began to consider how they might act on their newfound understanding. The idea of an environmental professional fraternity was posed as a pragmatic and novel way to approach environmental activism on campus. Once back on campus, they recruited Matt Sehrsweeney, Dylan Nelson, Josh Musicant, Caitlin Climes, and Sam McMullen. Over the next academic year, the founders developed the idea of the fraternity, drafted the constitution, and quickly began attracting attention from interested students as well as the University. They welcomed the first class to EH the following Fall.
